4th and the Last Assignment of the Course: Creating an AI Integrated Teaching Material

Hello everyone, I hope you are all good!

In this post, I am going to talk to you about our last assignment of this course. For the assignment, we were supposed to work in groups and create an AI integrated teaching material for EFL high school prep students. (A2 level) As Halil, İren, Sude and me; we prepared a digital worksheet. As the content of the material, we were supposed to choose a focus (reading, listening, speaking or writing) from the UPTONE students' book volume 1. We chose our focus as writing and decided to focus on Simple Present Tense from the "School Life" unit. On the first page of our worksheet, the students watch a video about Simple Present Tense embedded in a QR code, and then they complete four fill in the blanks questions regarding Simple Present Tense. On the next page, there is a text in which there are mistakes concerning the usage of the tense, and the students are asked to underline these. On the next page, students are supposed to ask ChatGPT if they underlined the mistaken parts correctly, and it also checks if the students missed any mistaken parts in the text. ChatGPT only explain the mistakes, it does not rewrite the paragraph. It is students' duty to rewrite it according to ChatGPT's feedback. And the last page is allocated for the reflection of students regarding their experience with ChatGPT. Here, they write a report concerning their experience with it. As to the creation process, it did not take so long for us to decide on what we were going to do to prepare the worksheet. However, it took considerable time to write the ASSURE plan and prepare the digital worksheet.

I thank my friends for their efforts for the assignment.

In this paragraph, I want to talk about the feedback we received from our instructor. Firstly, our instructor told us that the worksheet should be topic-based. Secondly, it should not be grammar-focused. Third, she told us that on the first page, we could have given a speaking task to students in which they talk to their partners about the School Life theme, and then we could have asked them to write a paragraph about their school life. As to the third page, she told us that, because the students fix the grammatical errors in the paragraph, it is not a writing task. They only fix the grammatical errors and rewrite the paragraph.

Here is the first draft of our worksheet:
